- When you do something at the same time everyday, you remember it and time remembers it. Doing something at same time at same place assures us that whatever we do, whether it is exercising or meditation or journaling or anything, it slowly and gradually develops into a habit and we no longer need any external push to do that task.
2. The only way to make a change in our habit is to create a sense of urgency so intense that we are force to follow through. We have to ask ourselves questions like what if I don’t make this new habit? what will I lose? what if I change and develop a positive habit? what will i gain? We need to create urgent reasons that will directly impact our life now.
3. We don’t have to allow the events of our past to control our present and future. Whatever good or bad happened is now a history. We cannot always live on the thoughts and events of our past. Being trapped in the past will tarnish our present and ultimately will destroy our future. What we have is only now. We have to only take lessons from the past of our mistakes and successes so that we can examine them and work on them in our present to make our future better.
4. The more we indulge in any pattern of behavior, the stronger the pattern becomes. This is helpful in both – Breaking Bad Habits and Making Good Habits. The less we indulge in our bad habits, the more control we gain over our life. Breaking the pattern by not indulging often will slowly and gradually weaken the neural pathways inside our brain and ultimately the bad habit will get over. On the other side to build a new good habit we have to do it over and over until the new neural pathway becomes so strong that we no longer needs to force us to do it. It will become just like breathing. It will become our new norm.
5. The level of success is directly proportional to the level of problems we solve. We will never ever succeed if we duck and avoid the problems of our live. We can’t succeed if we tap dance around our problems. We have to face our problems. We have to confront the things which are stopping us from growing in life. When we start addressing our real problems and take actions to solve them, success becomes inevitable.
6. Ego pushes us to the extreme. Ego is like – I am the best of the best or I am the worst of the worst. Ego does not give balance and honesty to our life. Ego leads to frustration, bad relationship, fear, loneliness and much more negative things which severely affects our life. Letting go our Ego is the beginning of the journey of happiness and fulfillment.
7. There are no failures in life. There are only results. If we didn’t get the desired result, it does not means that we fail at that thing and now we can never achieve it in the future. The truth is every time we did not get the desired result we learn from it and the valuable experience will help us to not only achieve that thing eventually but it will also help us to make better decisions in every sphere of our life in the future.

This is definitely a nice post with small “pebbles of wisdom”.
Also, I would like to know about how can one sustain the habit streak for long? Should the underlying belief be changed or just the routine?
Thanks

Thank you Sujith for appreciating my post.😊
On sustaining a habit for long, I believe that discipline is the major factor here. Like I mentioned in the first point, you have to be very discipline regarding this that whatever thing you want to build and sustain as a habit for long, do it in the same place and at the same time every single day! There might be some off days due to travel or overload of work or any other factor, that’s completely okay. You don’t have to begin from day one again. We all have off days once in a while, which is completely okay.
But if you are regularly breaking the streak then you have to figure out a new routine. Introspect, observe and note all your daily tasks for few days and then allocate the time slot for that thing which you want to sustain as a habit such that it has the minimum chances of getting clash by any of your other tasks.
If you have any more questions then do ask me. I would definitely try to answer them.😃

The more we indulge in any pattern of behavior, the stronger the pattern becomes.
This is true. Especially with my weight loss journey. I set myself a goal of walking 10000 steps every day.
The more days I walked 10k steps, the stronger and automatic I would complete 10k steps every day.
Good info.

Those are really wonderful perks of wisdom. As someone who tends to be slightly laidback, I I specially liked the second one. The importance of associating a sense of urgency to your aspirations will surely help make it happen. I’m going to make a note to self on that one ..

My life really has no structure I don’t even sleep in a pattern never have! I’ve tried to but only to fail! I’ve learned to live with this. Nothing in my life is structured or planned. I never plan ahead on anything because I’ve learned life can change those plans in the blink of an eye! Love what you’ve done so far! Keep up the good work!

Yes I agree completely that life is so powerful that it can really change all of our plans in the blink of an eye. But I personally have felt that making plans has benefitted me a lot. I have noticed that whenever I did not plan out my day and habits I would really end up in lots of chaos. On the other side planning my day really makes everything in balance and in control. I could easily focus on things that I want to focus on. Making plans has also increased the sense of clarity on what I should do and what I should not.
